Carcassonne Salvaza Airport (CCF) Information: History and Facilities
Although Carcassonne Cathare Airport is a historic airport, it was not until the past decade that passenger traffic began to rise substantially. Towards the end of the 1990s, a number of budget, no-frills airlines began their operations here and provided a noticeable boost to the local Languedoc-Roussillon economy. However, today Carcassonne Salvaza Airport (CCF) is served solely by one commercial carrier, Ryanair, with flights connectioning Brussels, Dublin, Liverpool, London and several further destinations. Links to a number of German cities are currently in discussion.
Although the terminal has limited facilities, passengers will find many of the basic amenities required, such as ATMs, a bureau de change providing Euros, and also a bank. There is a sandwich café, along with a decent bar and restaurant (Le Salvaza), which offers a good variety of French-style food and drinks. Shopping is limited to a newsagent and a local produce shop - the 'Délices et des Ailes', while duty-free shopping is also available in the Departures Lounge.
